There wasn't much interesting scenery on this leg of our trip. Hopefully our final train trip from Albany to Montreal will be better as we should see the fall colours.
The Amtrak station at Albany is across the Hudson River from downtown so we caught a cab to our hotel. We chatted with the taxi despatched while we waited and learned how cold the winters are in this part of the world.
Since we won't ever be here in winter, I downloaded a picture from the US Coastguard showing the frozen river in Albany.
It was hard to imagine such cold temperatures as we waited on a lovely sunny day with the temperature about 75°. This building is near the station. It is one of nearly 100 churches in Albany, which only has a population of about 100,000 people.
