Food and Entertainment

We couldn't pass by this diner without thinking of our friend Ricky. Our lunches were among the best we have enjoyed here in the USA.

After sprucing up at our hotel we walked to the CIBC Theatre. That name comes from the bank that bought the naming rights. We had picked up great seats for $92 each when walking past the box office yesterday. These normally cost over $200 each. Part of the floor on the stage rotates creating many options for minor set changes. The inside of the theatre is magnificent.

We both really enjoyed the show, but the rush to the restrooms during the interval was farcical. As I waited my turn in a line being controlled by two ushers, the queue passed an empty toilet reserved exclusively for people with disabilities. The were no queues to the male restrooms.

We had dinner seated at the bar in the Sweetwater restaurant. The televisions were all tuned to the NFL match between the Chicago Bears and the Denver Broncos. The Bears were behind but just as we sat down the Bears hit the front and the bar erupted cheering.

I thought the celebrations were continuing around town because there has been a cacophony of horn blowing for the past couple of hours. Our hotel does not have double glazed windows so the noise from Madisson Avenue is pretty loud. However when I looked out I saw Mexican flags being waved from all of the cars, so this noise relates to Mexican Independence Day celebrations.
