New York is known for its rat problem, but this one was huge. It was protesting with construction workers about their poor working conditions.
People were already queuing outside the Met when we arrived 20 minutes before opening time. This museum is so big you need to be selective about what you will see in one visit. Your entry ticket allows you to return 3 days in a row, but we made the most of our one visit, spending time in the special exhibitions.
This was my favourite piece from a special Kyoto exhibit. It portrays an actor in a play during the Edo period between 1603 and 1868. There was a collection of Japanese and Chinese ceramics and I saw some I thought were similar to pieces I own - until I read the collection dates back to the 12th century!
I took this picture of the Great Hall while sitting in one of the cafes having our morning tea break. Next we enjoyed the Camp exhibition, featuring lots of pink and fancy clothes. This not very good selfie was taken on the rooftop as we squinted in sunlight. Imagine what Van Gogh might have done with a smart phone!

Yr winter escape is looking very tempting. Loved the selfie. Keep safe.
